Stereotype V3 Receiver
Product Overview
Stereotype is an electronic note-taking system that enables full, live access to notes in lectures or seminars in higher/further education, meetings, presentations, etc, with text relayed directly in real-time to one or more receivers.
System Requirements
* 1GHz Intel or AMD processor
* 256Mb of RAM
* Network infrastructure wireless or conventional
* MS Windows 98, or later
Key Features
Stereotype requires two (or more) PC compatible computers or laptops, and suitable networking infrastructure to link them together. This can be achieved through conventional networking facilities. Stereotype is also compatible with wireless networking, which means no more cables!
Stereotype is widely used in higher education (software and computers being provided through DSA) and also in business (financed through Access to Work).
Stereotype enables an electronic note-taker to enter text directly into a computer in much the same way as they would with a normal word processor. However, Stereotype differs, in that it provides additional features that normal word processors do not - it allows a person other than the note-taker (i.e. a viewer), using an additional computer, to read the text in real time. This enables a viewer to become an active participant in situations where they are forced to be passive when traditional note-taking is used.
Stereotype comprises a software system to facilitate electronic note-taking. It is not a service, in that we do not provide the typists or the equipment required to support it. We leave these details to the customer. This enables them to use their own note-takers or equipment, thus ensuring flexibility and freedom.
Stereotype works using one copy of Stereotype Sender on one machine and one copy of Stereotype Receiver on another machine. They may be bought and used together or separately. It is possible to connect more than one Receiver to a single Sender, and for this you will need to purchase the required number of Receivers. In addition, a site licence is available, for Senders or Receivers, which will enable you to install it on a number of machines in a single organisation.
